31 Days to Christmas Day 16: Los Posadas
Looking for a new Christmas tradition this year? As I was exploring Christmas traditions of other cultures, I came across Los Posadas. I thought this was such a neat idea and would be an activity that would remind children (and adults) of Mary and Joseph’s journeys.
“In Arizona, the Mexican ritual called Las Posadas is kept up. This is a ritual procession and play representing the search of Mary and Joseph for a room at the inn. Families play the parts and visit each other's houses enacting and re-enacting the drama and, at the same time, having a look at each family's [nativity scene].”
This would be a beautiful new tradition for young families to start to help their children think about what it must have been like for Mary and Joseph to go from place to place being told there was no room at each. Also, it would be a wonderful opportunity to talk to your children about making a place for Jesus in their heart and not shutting Him out.
Luke 2:6-7
And so it was, that while they were there, the days were accomplished that she should be delivered. And she brought forth her first-born son, and wrapped him in swaddling clothes, and laid him in a manger, because there was none to give room for them in the inns.
