31 Days to Christmas Day 14: Mistletoe
Mistletoe, oh what a great tradition. Trap your little brother under it and give him a smooch. Stand coyly under it hoping a certain someone will notice. Run under it as quickly as possible so your dad can’t grab you and give you a scruffy-faced kiss.
Mistletoe is a tradition all about love. And what better reminder of why Jesus came? God loved us so much that He sent his only Son so that if you just believe on Him, you can live forever with our Father in Heaven. God didn’t send His son to condemn you, but to save you.
No one is good enough to save themselves. We are thieves, liars, enemies to God. But through His Son, Jesus, we can be saved.
Christmas is truly one of the greatest love stories of all time. (Easter being the greatest.)
Oh, how He loves us.
As you walk under the mistletoe this Christmas, look at the pure, white berries and think about the pure love that Jesus has for you. Enough to take your place.
John 3:16-17
For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth on Him should not perish; but have everlasting life. For God did not send His Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through Him might be saved.
