A couple days ago, I posted about winning a free copy of 31 Days to Clean.  Well, today, the author, is offering a FREE e-book copy to anyone who tweets or blogs about the book.  I'm so excited to read this book and get cleaning!  If you're interested, check out her blog here.  You can find out more about the book at Sarah Mae's website.

Good Friday

I was sitting on Facebook trying to think of what to say as my "Good Friday Status."  Several people had posted parts of songs that are really great, but I didn't want to copy them or steal their ideas.  Then, I was trying to think of something else to say and thought about just saying, "Happy Good Friday everyone!", but really, was there anything happy about it?  When that Friday happened, did anyone call it good?  Even those nailing Him to the cross must have realized deep down that this could not be a good thing.  Even the centurion said "Surely this man was the Son of God."

So what am I thinking about this Friday?  Why is this Friday good?  To be honest, I didn't think about it much at all today.  Brian went to work as usual.  I didn't feel very well.  We went to a play at church tonight.  I didn't spend much time with the Lord.  Actually, other than meal times, the only time I talked with Him was this morning when I woke up feeling crummy.  I prayed then.  I asked Him why I hadn't been healed.  I played Wheel of Fortune.  I browsed the web.  I planned H's birthday party.  I didn't do anything bad.

So why is this Friday good?  Because of exactly what I did today.  Or more, what I didn't do.  Or just the fact, that in my every day life, I'm a sinner.  I complain, I whine, I focus on things that aren't Heavenly. I waste time.  Just like we all do.  That doesn't make me a bad person though.  Does it?  Yes.  It does.  "For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God."  I didn't do anything bad today.  But were the things I spent my time on worthy of the glory of God?  Not even close.

Praise the Lord, the scripture doesn't end there!  "For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God" is only the beginning.  Later, Paul writes, "But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us."  That is why this Friday is good.  God didn't wait for us to be perfect to redeem us.  While we were STILL sinners, Christ died for us.  Praise the Lord!  Thanks be to our God!

I know Easter Sunday is the day we will all celebrate the Resurrection, but imagine if God hadn't sent His Son.  There would be no celebration.  So I hope you all had time to remember His love for you on this very Good Friday.
